«Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory» (Ephesians 3:20, 21).
GRACIELA PRAYED before going out with her family to spend the day at the beach. The trip to the beach was spectacular, as they enjoyed the scenery from the car and were excited about the experience. Once they were at the sea, they spent hours having fun, swimming, walking on the sand, chatting, laughing, and enjoying the moment until Graciela’s father asked,» Where is the car key?’ He looked everywhere without finding it, and suddenly remembered that he had put it in his bathing suit pocket when he had gone in the water. He was stunned when he realized what had happened.
After the shock, they decided to join in prayer. In faith, they asked God to help them find the key. At the end of the prayer, they set about the task of looking in the sea, going back to the places near where the father had been swimming. Soon later, Graciela felt something hard under the sole of her foot. Her husband went under the water to see what it was: it was the car key! In the Immensity of the sea! The Creator of everything is greater than the many waters that could surround us. There is no situation that is impossible for Him.
This experience reminds us about how much attention God pays to the little details of our lives. It takes my mind to another experience that happened to Elisha many centuries ago (see 2 Kings 6:1—7). A group of men were cutting down trees to build a house when the axe one of them was using fell into the water. axe had been borrowed, and the man did not have money to buy a new one. Elisha, the prophet of God, worked a miracle. That axe came floating to the surface. The one who had lost it, like Graciela, could feel in his own flesh the love of God helping him to recover something of great value to him.
Have you lost something of value in your spiritual life, something you long to recover? If God is concerned about our material needs, how much greater is His desire to help us with our spiritual struggles? Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that He is powerful to do much, much more than what we ask Him or even what we think. His ability and His power surpass our imagination. To Him be the glory and the honor through the ages without end. Amen.
