A WOMAN’S LIFE is like a journey; our arrival at each of the stations invites us to a time of transition and adjustment. Childhood, adolescence, youth, adulthood, and old age are seasons where we must stop and let them bring us very noticeable changes, both physically and emotionally.
The girl announces her arrival to adolescence with physical and emotional changes that are very evident to her and those who observe her, and she must make adjustments that are sometimes not easy.
Young adulthood is a season that many come to with high expectations. They start to see a chance to find a partner and start a family. It’s a stage of great decisions; it’s a time to take responsibility and take care of ourselves. Any mistakes or successes will have repercussions on the following stages. For many women, young adulthood is the stage of becoming wives and mothers. Life takes a turn and they sometimes live with anxiety and unease; not only do they have to take care of themselves, but others as well. Those who take the path of being single need courage to confront a society that conceives the woman as «incomplete» without a man at her side. Some may live through this season with tension and loneliness.
Adulthood and old age are pointed out in various cultures as stages of unproductivity: the reproductive function ceases, and mourning for its loss may cause states of depression and a lack of purpose in life.
Dear friend whatever season you have reached, I want you to know that this is the best, if you learn to enjoy it and, above all, if you realize that you are traveling with Jesus, the best Companion. Check your luggage, store the accumulated treasures and discard all emotional rubbish, which is just dead weight that will prevent you from advancing.
Being a girl, a teenager, a young woman, an adult, and an elderly woman has its charms, discover them with God! Don’t cry for the losses, but rejoice in the gains, live the joy of being a daughter of God. Live today with optimism; appreciate the gift of life and praise the Lord who made you the woman you are today.
