WHO PREACHED THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT?

Underline the correct answer

a. Moses

b. Jesus

c. Pete

Do you know what the word «sermon” means?

Sometimes the word is used in a negative way, that is, if someone is sermonizing you because they’re scolding you for something you’ve said or done.

However,  the word ”sermon» is also used when a pastor is going to preach at church.

So the first meaning of the word «sermon” or «speech” is to teach some- thing related to the Bible.

Do you know what the most well-known and important sermon in the Bible is?

It’s called the Sermon on the Mount and it’s found in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters 5 to 7.

Jesus went up on a mount to talk to His disciples, but many people followed Him. Then He began teaching them that the of God implied much more than they thought.

The speech Jesus gave that day is known as the Sermon on the Mount.

Look it up in the Bible and you’ll find the Beatitudes; why Christians should be the salt and light office world; what Jesus thinks about anger, adultery, and divorce; what an eye for an eye means; how to pray and fast; how to trust in Jesus without Worrying; how to build your character, and many other things.

The Sermon on the Mount surprised many of Jesus’s listeners that day.

Did it surprise you too? In your Prayer Journal, write down what you like most from the Sermon on the Mount.
