TODAY I DECLARE MYSELF HEALTHY

«Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might» (Ephesians 6:10).

LET us PICK UP the experience of the young woman from yesterday. Sunk in depression, she could not stop weeping. She wanted to go back to being as active as she had always been, but that was something that was simply not up to her. The only thing she felt she could do was weep, complain about everything and everyone, and feel profoundly sad. The only thing this did was make her situation worse. Soon, her knees and ankles began to swell. She went to therapists and specialists, but nothing gave results.

After some time, she was referred to a rheumatologist who, after doing several tests, told her with a serious look on her face, «You have rheumatoid arthritis. This has no cure. I will give you a prescription for corticoids and anti-inflammatory medication that you will have to take for the rest of your life.»

Right there, in front of the doctor and her own husband, she broke out crying uncontrollably. She did not want to do it, but the magnitude of the news was like a devastating blow to her emotions. Bitterness and grief had seized her life.

One day, in the midst of her sadness, she remembered the parable of the widow and the judge that is found in Luke 18:1—8 and that Jesus told «to show them that they should always pray and not give up» (verse 1, NIV). She went to read it again and was moved. An unfair judge who did not fear God or men was able to do justice for a poor widow who did not stop insisting before him, so she thought, «If Jesus said we should not lose heart, I will be like that insistent widow.» Particularly the end of the parable made her react: «Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?’ (verses 6, 7, NIV). The young woman decided to become that woman who prayed for her healing without ceasing.

Early one morning, she got on her knees and began to sing: «Today I declare myself healthy.» Then, God put a doctor of naturopathic medicine in her path, who helped her to detoxify her body and taught her a new way of eating without dairy or other products of animal origin, and she was completely healed. Today, she enjoys good health, has no pain at all, and understands that the promises of God are not there only to read and enjoy them in a mystic way, but to apply them to life, living with and through them. Do likewise.
