The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him» (Proverbs 23:24).
Johannes Chrysostom us Wolfgang us Theophilus Mozart, better known as Wolf. gang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg (Austria) on January 27, 1756. His father, Leopold Mozart, was an interpreter, composer, and music teacher who knew how to see the qualities of his son and to procure him the necessary conditions to develop his musical virtues. That’s how he managed to get Wolfgang to play the harpsichord at the age of three, even though his hands only reached slightly more than half an octave, and at the age of five the boy performed his first concert. To do so, Leopold encouraged his son to practice several hours a day, but he also gave him time to play like any other kid.
The great talents of little Mozart were soon known in Salzburg; his father organized presentations in aristocratic halls of the town, where he marveled at the attendees. In a short time, Salzburg became too small for him. So Wolfgang’s father organized performances in Italy and France, where he achieved great successes. How was it possible for a child to perform certain musical pieces with such mastery? There was no shortage of people who suggested that it was witchcraft, as Wolfgang wore a supposedly enchanted ring; but during a presentation he took it off and continued to play the piano in an exceptional way. Leopold Mozart was very proud to see how his son developed his talents and felt happy every time he composed a new piece of music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart became one of the great musicians of history: he composed symphonies, concerts, and sonatas for the piano and violin, adagios, nocturnes, serenades, marches, and operas.
In this world there are extraordinary beings who have the power to see in a child a future scientist, musician, engineer, entrepreneur, writer, or preacher. They can be your own parents, your teachers, pastors, family members, or neighbors. They suddenly listen to you or watch you and motivate you to strive because they envision a great future for you. But the most wonderful are those who dedicate time, money, and effort, those who strive to convince you how far you can go if you persevere and take advantage of your opportunities. In reality, they are like angels that God sends His children to convey to them confidence and courage in the struggles of life.
It is very likely you have one of those angels very close to you and you may not have noticed. But there they are, quietly enjoying your triumphs.
Ask the Lord to help you be a person who puts for the effort and to give much happiness to those who love you so much.
