He restores my souls; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. PSALM 23:3, NKJV
When we began our wild cave tour at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, one of the first challenges we encountered was a long crawl on our bellies that ended with an extremely tight push through an opening that was barely big enough to fit our bodies through. We learned that this was basically a “gut check” for the tour, and it was the reason they had measured our chests before coming down. As the larger man in our group reached the far end of that crawl, he became stuck. The guides immediately went to get through the opening. We were about three hundred feet below the surface, so there was no one else around to help this man, plus battery power on our headlamps was limited. After about ten minutes, two women on the tour started to panic.
By the time the man finally made it through, the two women were so freaked out they needed to be evacuated. One of the two guides was forced to backtrack with them to the surface while we continued forward though the cave system, except now we only had one guide in the very front. I was asked to bring up the rear of our expedition. During another crawl later that day, we came across another space that was so tight that the only way though was to turn our helmet to a certain angle in order to get through the opening that was only about nine inches wide. Since I was the last person on the tour, I could have gone off on my own to explore, but do you think that would have been a good idea? No way.
Why would we try to go down our own path in life? Satan would love it you followed him down the wrong path. But GOD who created you has offered to lead you, and you can be sure that He will never lead you down the wrong path.
