Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your GOD, He is the one who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” DEUTERONOMY 31:6,, NKJV
Have you ever been to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky? During my visit we signed for an exciting wild cave tour. No nicely paved trail, no nicely lit passages, and almost no smooth walking surfaces for the next six or seven hours; it would definitely be an exciting adventure! I put on my heavy lug sole boots and geared up headlamps, kneepads, elbow pads, and heavy gloves. The group had about a dozen people, and our two guides would lead us to some of the most exciting and hard-to-reach areas of this enormous cave system. They estimated that there are more than one thousand miles of caves there, most of which have never been mapped or explored. This was no ordinary tour, and we had plenty of questions about what was going to happen during the tour.
We knew that we were in for some interesting moments because, before we left, the guides measured our chest to make sure we would fit through some small openings we would encountered. One of the men was a little larger and he barely qualified to be on the tour. We wondered how this tour would go for him, since he insisted to spend so many hours down there, we even had to bring a small lunch and water of bottle. We also wondered if the batteries on our headlamps were going to last long enough. The idea of getting stuck down there in darkness was creepy.
We often have lots of questions and concerns when we are facing things that are unknown. That is a natural human reaction, especially when we feel as though we are facing the unknown alone. The good news is that we’re never alone.
GOD promises that HE is always with us.
What a relief!
