IN MAY 2021, people everywhere were shocked to see over a thousand missiles being launched over the State of Israel. As if it were a fireworks show, television cameras allowed us to see the massive rain of fire that posed a threat to the entire country. However, it was no less surprising when we found out that out of the 1,050 missiles that were launched against Israel, the Israeli army was able to intercept 850. They prevented all those projectiles from hitting areas filled with civilians, managing to prevent the loss of the lives of thousands of people.
Israel’s success was due to what is known as their Iron Dome, a sort of shield that protects the country against enemy attacks. By means of a sophisticated technological system, the Iron Dome’s radars detect missiles launched against Israel, and then they calculate the point of impact and whether a projectile is likely to fall on populated areas. Then the Iron Dome launches missiles that intercept and detonate the enemy’s missiles in midair. Therefore, the Dome considerably reduces the efficacy of enemy weapons. The company that deploys the Iron Dome says that it is ninety percent effective. However, no matter how effective the Iron Dome is, there’s always the chance that some of the enemy’s weapons will end up in Israeli territory.
You and I have an enemy with powerful weapons, with a whole arsenal that can destroy the strongest of mortal beings. But the Lord has placed over us an impenetrable Dome that prevents Satan’s weapons from destroying us, because you and I dwell «in the secret place of the Most High,» and thus we are covered by «the shadow of the Almighty» (Psalm 91:1). All of the enemy’s attacks against us will be fruitless and in vain.
At the climax of a wonderful poem full of beautiful promises, the Lord assures you, «No weapon formed against you shall prosper» (Isaiah 54:17). Satan can summon all his evil host, surround every corner of your life, launch his fiercest attack against you, and those weapons will not «prosper» against you; in other words, they will not be successful, they will not accomplish their goal, they will not destroy you.
When you are under God’s protective care, nothing can touch you, you are invincible. A divine Dome protects you.
