«And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace» (John 1:16)
One of Dostoyevsky’s most impressive phrases is this, which refers to the meaning of life: «The secret of human existence is not only in living, but also in knowing what to live for.» Tell me, dear friend, what are you reading these lines? Do you know what you live for? Have you discovered the secret of your existence?
Do you simply exist (survive) or live fully, with a clear and definite purpose in mind?
The age of robots has arrived; These are capable of accurately imitating human actions, generating such astonishment that sometimes we forget that they are only animated machines, that they will never become human because they lack soul, spirit, emotions; and that will never be possible to replicate on a machine. However, the other side of existence shows us human beings, made by God with special care, acting like robots; programmed by culture, society or custom to follow life patterns that distance us from human sensitivity, which is what gives quality and meaning to life.
It is through the Holy Spirit that we connect with God and with those around us. Yet many people, including Christian women, seem content to offer a cold, indifferent, and frivolous face. Human mannequins that walk through the streets, indifferent to the needs of others; robotic mothers who assume the routines of the home but are oblivious to the loneliness of the child. Stern and relentless, they apply discipline without kindness. People who exist because they breathe, move and act, but without enjoying the small pleasures of life. This is a bleak picture.
Today is the time to live, not just to exist. You have the right to live life intensely, enjoying communion with God. Rejoice in what he grants you every moment; enjoy life loving, treasure and recreate yourself in fond memories, find learning in your mistakes, console, accompany, show affection, capture your essence as a woman in everything you say and do, value what you have and be grateful for what you do not have, and above all, recognize yourself as a daughter of God, loved and full of grace.
Why settle for simply existing if you can live life to the fullest?
