KINK IN THE TAIL

Alipo didn’t see the leopard until it sprang onto the back of one of his cows.

Herding can be a very boring job. You lead the animals out of their pens In the morning, watch them munch grass all day long tint II the sun hangs low in the west, then you lead them back home again. That’s the way it had been for Alipo during the dry season in northern India. But a leopard attack certainly didn’t qualify as «business as usual» in the cow-watching profession.

«Hey!» the boy shouted, hoping that the sound of a human voice might scare the leopard away.

Nope. He began throwing rocks at the beast, striking it repeatedly on the back. Nothing. Racing to the predator, he began jabbing his fists into the legs of the determined creature, trying to dislodge it. The leopard simply sank its claws deeper into the bellowing cow’s back. Alipo knew that if it bit into the neck where the great nerve ran down the spine, he’d be less one cow that night. hat’s when Alipo did an incredibly brave thing. He grabbed the leopard’s tail with both hands and bent it. He bent it hard! The cat let out a scream of pain, released its grip on the cow, and raced out across the meadow as fast as it could go.  By the way, if you find the devil on your back today, ask Jesus to help you think a few kind thoughts and do a few kind deeds. It’s just like bending Satan’s tail
