“Call to Me, and I will answer you,
And show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”
(Jeremiah 33:3).
WHILE TOURING a Mexican handbags, wallets, and blouses, adorned with images of Frida Kahlo. I must admit that I bought one of these objects, because it was colorful and beautiful. Many other people also bought them; I suppose they did it more for the beauty of the designs than for paying homage to this woman, who many of us know very little about. Perhaps what we know most about her is that she was a renowned Mexican painter. Most of her works were self-portraits painted in vivid colors, showing sadness and pain Frida Kahlo’s sadness and pain possibly came from the misfortunes that life dragged her through. When she was just six years old, she contracted polio which left permanent defects in one of her legs, that she always hid by wearing wide, long skirts. Although she regained the ability to walk, her life was marked with extreme pain and deep suffering. Still, Frida Kahlo was a successful woman. She didn’t allow her precarious condition to keep her from success. She found in painting a way to express herself and transcend
her personal pain and misfortune. What an impressive life lesson for us!
Crying, complaining, and looking for someone to blame for our problems is what many of us do. Some get emotionally stuck in what we call “bad luck.» However, “bad luck isn’t a valid excuse for a daughter of God. Adverse circumstances cannot stop God’s magnificent plans for you, unless you delay their fulfillment by lingering in the passive state of discouragement and self-pity.
My dear friend, if you find yourself going through a serious physical or mental health problem, a financial crisis, or a bad relationship, don’t get stuck in that state of affairs.
Move forward. Take action and look for one of the many solutions God has for you. Claim His promises in prayer, be fully convinced that He will fulfill them in you.
Don’t get stuck in the problem.
Cling to the God whom no problem is too big to solve.
