«Before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear». Isaiah 65:24
SHORTLY BEFORE the end of his book, the prophet Isaiah gave us the Lord’s great and precious promise: «Before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear» (Isaiah 65:24). Has that ever happened to you? Have you ever found out that God had already answered your prayer before you even prayed it? The September 2020 issue of Adventist World includes an article that gives irrefutable testimony of what the prophet Isaiah said.
The Sharon Seventh-day Adventist Church, located in Portland, Oregon, United States, has a ministry that distributes food to those in need. Portland Adventist Community Services helps the church perform this commendable work. One Tuesday, Pastor Garth Dottin called Community Services and asked them for food for 120 families. He received a favorable answer and was informed he could pick up two pallets of food by Friday morning. To make sure he had understood correctly, the pastor called back on Wednesday, and they confirmed the food was already being packed. On Thursday afternoon he called again and they told him the pallets were ready and he could pick them up the following day. Trusting everything was in order, he called the next day, Friday, and the person in charge of the warehouse told him, «I have terrible news for you. Somehow last night one of our crew gave both of your pallets away to another organization that needed the food. I’m so sorry.»
The pastor and another church member began to pray; ten minutes later, a Pacific Coast Produce truck arrived. The driver informed them he had a delivery, and when they opened the back door, there were 120 boxes of food strapped on two pallets. How did that happen? God had answered the prayers lifted up that Friday morning on Thursday night, when Pacific Coast Produce loaded their trucks. The Lord acted before they «even knew they needed to pray.»*
In Matthew 6:8, Jesus assured us that our heavenly Father knows what each of us needs long before we ask Him for it. And the psalmist affirms, «Even before I speak, You already know what I will say» (Psalm 139:4, GNT). We serve a God who is looking out for everything we truly need. Today, the Lord is already working on the prayer you will lift up tomorrow. Your miracle is already on its way.
