AN ENDING AND A NEW BEGINNING

«I will go before you and make the crooked places straight;

I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron»

(Isaiah 45:2).

BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR US,  God has been our provider, keeper, sustainer, healer, deliverer, savior, and shepherd throughout this year that is about to end. It has not only been for us, but also for our children and for our children’s children. He has been our refuge, our strength and our soon help in our tribulations.

During the year that is ending, we have been witnesses and objects of the power of God. He has been at the forefront, as the supreme commander in all your battles, as your friend in all your joys, and as a counselor in all your decisions.

Many of our seemingly impossible challenges have been overcome with the help and power of God: illness, emotional and spiritual affliction, loss and grief, family crisis … And now we are here, ready to welcome a new year that begins and to fire the one left behind. In the midst of a dehumanized world, full of affliction and pain, we cry out to him with conviction. Only in this way have we remained strong.

In this new year that is about to begin, let us stamp on our minds the assurance that he is at the forefront of the course of this world of ours. In the midst of social, political and economic disorder, God still has mercy on his creatures and intervenes in their lives. Just think «that those who love God, all things work together for good» (Rom. 8:28, KJV 95). Do you love God? Then trust him, and he will. He will resolve in due time the chaos that may be in your life right now; take hold of his promise: “Behold, I have you sculpted on the palms of my hands; Your walls are always before me ”(Isa. 49:16, ESV 95).

This assurance should fill you with hope, optimism, and confidence, no matter how difficult the future may seem. “Trust in the Lord and do good, live on earth and be faithful. Love the Lord tenderly, and he will fulfill your deepest desires. Put your life in the hands of the Lord; Trust him, and he will come to your aid. It will make your righteousness and your justice shine as the noonday sun shines.

Be silent before the Lord; wait patiently for him to help you ”(Psalm 37: 3-7).
