Underline the correct answer
a. Esau and Jacob
b. Esau and Reuben
c. Reuben and Jacob
Would you like to inherit lot of money?
In Bible times the first male child to be born was the main heir.
The firstborn son was the one who received the biggest part of the inheritance, because he was the eldest son, and that inheritance was called the “birthright.
” What was the birthright? When father died, the firstborn became the family leader, he inherited twice as much as his brothers, and received special blessing.
Do you remember two Bible characters who lost their birthright? One was Esau, who sold it to his brother Jacob for bowl of lentil stew. The other was Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn son, who lost his birthright because he slept with one of his father’s wives.
How little Esau and Reuben valued their birthright!
Their decisions had serious consequences in their lives. What would you have done? Think about it for minute.
There are people who would rather have good time in this world and lose out on God’s blessings. Would you exchange something worth its weight in gold for something made out of iron? Things in this world don’t compare with the New Earth.
Did you know that you’re an heir of great fortune because you’re child of the King of the universe and your inheritance will be to live eternally in the kingdom of heaven?
In your Prayer Journal, write what decision you’ll make to keep the inheritance God gives you as His heir.
