Q: What will happen if I don’t go to heaven?
A: The day has arrived. You notice a dark cloud coming closer and closer. Then you see Jesus sitting on His throne surrounded by millions of angels. You hate Him. In fact, you hate the very sight of Him. So you run and hide with a bunch of other people who despise the Lord.
Suddenly, it’s a thousand years later. You watch Satan call great crowds of people together, urging them to join his battle against God. In the distance you spot a city made of gold, and you laugh. «We can take that city for ourselves,» you shout.
Just as you and the others rush forward, weapons in hand, you hear a voice speaking to you. It’s reminding you of all the times you refused to listen to Jesus. You see images of yourself turning your back on God again and again and again until you didn’t care what He wanted you to do.
«Yes,» you finally agree, «I don’t deserve to be in the city with God. I don’t want to be there anyway. I hate Him.»
With those words on your lips, fire flashes all around and you die, this time forever.
But that’s not you. You love Jesus and accept His forgiveness for your mistakes. When He comes, you’ll be so glad to see Him that you’ll jump up and down and shout, «Here I am, here I am!» And He’ll shout back, «Well, come on! I want to take you to your new home, where you won’t be bothered by the devil anymore.» And away you’ll go, your hand safely in His.
