Q: Why does God let some people live and other people die?
A: Not long ago I watched an interview with a young e woman who’d survived a terrible airplane crash. Many passengers had lost their lives. She and a few others had miraculously walked away without a scratch. “God must have something important planned for my life,» she said with tears in her eyes.
«That’s why He let me live. “
My immediate reaction to her statement was «Does that mean God had nothing important planned for the people who didn’t survive? He just let them die because He was through with them? “How we answer your question reveals the basis for our entire belief in God. It has to-do with His will—that means His set of wants for our lives. Jesus said: «For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life»(John 6:40). The apostle John, who learned to love at Jesus’ feet, wrote: «I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth» (3 John 2, KJV).
God’s will centers on life, not death. He wants us to enjoy a healthy, prosperous existence, spiritually and physically. Don’t ever think your heavenly Father is sitting around waiting to pull the plug on your existence when He thinks you’ve lived long enough. That young woman survived because she was sitting in the right place at the right time. The others died because they weren’t
