“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples,
Sing to Him, sing Psalms to Him
Talk of all His wondrous works.”
(Psalm 105:1, 2).
ONE OF MY FONDEST Childhood memories is when we sang that beautiful little song that goes, “With Jesus in the family, what a happy home, what a happy home!» I imagine you had a similar experience. What song stands out from your childhood?
Or maybe it was a Bible verse. a poem or a tradition you had with your parents? Those times of family worship are treasured in our minds and hearts when we were girls, and become a source of strength in our adult lives when we are feeling lonely.
How meaningful they are! In families where Jesus is made the center of home life, you can feel an environment of warmth and sweet communion, which provides simple tools for its member to face daily challenges. Any moment in the family life is good to develop its members spirituality so God’s presence will be felt.
It would be good for mothers to lead worship activities that will exalt the joy of having Christ as the center of their homes.
“Let cheerfulness, kindness, and love pervade the home. This will increase a love for religious exercises, and duties large and small will be performed with a light heart.
We may have true Christian dignity and at the same time be cheerful and pleasant in our deportment.
Cheerfulness without levity is one of the Christian tian graces» (The Adventist Home, ch. 70, p. 433).
Let us make family worship a time of expression of thanksgiving and praise to God for the blessings we have received, as well as true Christian cheerfulness.
If mothers do so in front of their children, they will imitate their example and be docile and affable, at the same time their interest in spiritual activities grows toward those times of religious cheerfulness we place in their daily routines.
Time spent with God and one another provides a place for each family member to be comforted and supported.
Dear sister, foster times of fellowship with God in your family before starring each day’s activities.
Turn them into precious, simple rituals they can later pass on to the next generation.
This will give great meaning to daily routine and will teach them values and principles they can apply out-outside the home.
