a. Catholics
b. Adventists
c. Those who believe in Jesus
How many people belong to your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Do you all have the same last name? Belonging to a family is a blessing. Knowing you can always count on and trust them with your problems is a privilege you should be grateful for every day.
But there’s an even greater privilege. Do you know what it is? Belonging to the family of God. All of us who follow Jesus and believe He is our Savior have the same “last name”; that is, we call ourselves “Christians” because we follow Christ. And all Christians make up a great big family we call “church”.
So God’s family includes everyone who believes in Jesus and wants to follow him. Those who belong to God’s family have skin eyes, and hair of different colors. And they live all over the world.
The bible teaches that Jesus is head of that great family and that the church is founded on him. Jesus is the One who leads this great family that makes up church and even though those of us who are part of the family aren’t perfect, He calls us to preach the good news that he forgives us, saves us, and will someday come to take His family to live with Him forever. Would you like to share that good news with people who don’t belong to God’s family yet?
In your prayer journal, write about what it means to belong to God’s family.
