WHICH PROPHET LIVED IN BABYLON?

Underline the correct answer

a. Nehemiah

b. Jeremiah

c. Daniel

Do you know what Babylon is?

It was a city in Mesopotamia.

And do you know when this city was founded? It was one of the first cities built after the Flood. Some historians believe it was built on the remains of the city of Babel, where languages were confused. Do you remember that story?

Would you like to know what Babylon means? Like “Babel,” Babylon means “confusion” or “mixture,” even though according to those who lived there it meant “door of the gods.”

Archeologists say it was probably the largest ancient city. It was built out of bricks that were glazed with many colors and there were many figures of lions and relief sculptures . . . It must have been impressive!

That is where a young man whose mission was to be a great prophet of God in a foreign country was taken captive. His name was Daniel and you can read about his story in the Bible, in Daniel 1.

The city of Babylon is mentioned many times in the Bible. Many prophecies were pronounced against Babylon, saying it would be destroyed and nobody would live there anymore. Do you think those prophecies were fulfilled? Of course they were! God always does what He says He will do. Only ruins of that impressive city remain today.

In the book of Revelation, the city is also mentioned, but with a different meaning. The apostle John says that Babylon is all the people who are confused, who oppose Jesus and those who believe in Him. Jesus invites you to come out of Babylon, to come out of the confusion and accept His love and salvation.

What will you choose to do? Write it in your Prayer Journal.
