a. Good conscience
b. Bad conscience
c. Good and bad conscience
How do you know you have done something wrong?
Normally, you get nervous or feel bad, right? However, you feel good and happy when you do things right.
How do you know that something is good or bad? Probably, the adults around you have taught you what is right and what is wrong.
For example, let’s say that you have an exam at school and have not studied much. Your classmate takes out the textbook and starts copying the answers. Then you think about doing the same so you can pass your exam. How ever, there is a little voice inside that tells you that it would not be right, and that if you do, you won’t feel good later, so you decide that you won’t cheat.
That is your conscience. God created us all with a conscience to help us figure out what is right and what is wrong. However, after Adam and Eve disobeyed God, not everyone has a good conscience.
There are people who have a poorly-educated conscience. These people were probably born in a home where they were not taught t o distinguish between what is right and what is wrong, and that’s why they don’t feel that what they are doing is bad.
Other people get used to doing things that are wrong. They do them so many times that they no longer feel guilty. They stop paying attention to that inner little voice that spoke to them the first, the second, and maybe the third time; but by the fourth time they don’t hear it anymore. Do you know who that voice of your conscience belongs to? lt is the voice of the Holy Spirit.
If you want to make wise decisions today and every day of your life, feed your conscience with things that help you be closer to Jesus. Write those things in your Prayer Journal.
