WHAT KIND OF HEARTH DID DAVID ASK GOD?

Underline the correct answer

a. A heart of stone

b. A clean heart

c. A wise heart

Have you thought about why we say at church that the heart can «get dirty,» «be clean,» «be made of stone,» or «be made new»?

There are many songs and hymns that speak about the heart as if it could feel, get excited, think . . . Do you think they refer to the organ that is beating inside your body? Of course not!

The Bible uses the word «heart», to show some attitudes or emotions, or to refer to a person’s mind and intelligence.

If the Bible says that someone has a «plain heart,» it means that he or she is an honest and trustful person.

When the Bible says that Pharaoh «hardened his heart» during the plagues of Egypt, refusing to let the people of Israel go, it means he had a rebellious attitude; he was disobedient to God.

The people that the Bible says have «a heart of stone» are those who don’t accept Jesus and don’t care about the needs of others.

King David felt so sad and dirty because he had disobeyed, that he asked God to give him a «clean heart» and a «loyal spirit.»

If you allow it, Jesus «will enter your heart.» This means that your mind and thoughts will always be directed by Jesus. If you trust Him, He can live «in your heart,» which means that He can always be by your side. With Jesus in your heart, you will be more obedient and feel good.

Draw a heart in your Prayer Journal and write today’s verse in it.
