underline the correct answer
a. That the love of God is eternal
b. That God is very merciful
c. That God loves us very much
Have you ever misbehaved and your parents gave a hug instead of nagging?
Or maybe a friend said something bad about you, but you gave him a hug? Well, that is precisely what «being merciful» or «having mercy» means. The word «mercy» can have many meanings: Kindness, understanding,
compassion … sometimes it can also be used as «feeling sorry.»
In the Bible, the word «mercy» is used to show God’s love for you and for me. King David wrote this word many times in the psalms. You can especially find it in Psalm 136. In this psalm, each verse ends with this expression:” His
mercy endures forever.”
And what does that phrase mean? If you read today ‘s verse in the Inter- national Children’s Bible, you will see that the same phrase means “His love continues forever.” Forever means
Who has an eternal love? God does. And whom does God love? God loves you to infinity and beyond; that’s what «His mercy endures forever» means.
Jesus loves you so much that He always has mercy on you. Jesus loves you to infinity and it does not matter if you misbehave or get mad at Him.
Perhaps you wonder: How can I be merciful with others? Although some- times it’s difficult to love someone who behaved badly toward you, Jesus can help you. If you ask Him, Jesus can change your heart so that you can love others as He loves you, without asking for anything in return.
Show your mercy or your love to someone in need today and write your
experience in your Prayer journal.
