a. The Scriptures
b. The law
c. The Bible
Do you know someone who is always looking for faults in others?
When Jesus was here on earth, there were certain people who spent their time following Jesus around so they would be able to accuse Him of some mistake.
They came from different cities or even from the same city of Jerusalem to find out if Jesus was the promised Savior or just to see whether He fulfilled the Scriptures.
The teachers of the law were the ones in charge of studying the Scriptures and teaching them to the people.
Do you know what the Scriptures were?
Before the birth of Jesus, the priests and teachers of the law were dedicated to studying what until then was the Word of God, that is to say, the Old Testament, which is made up of thirty-nine books: from Genesis to Malachi.
They still didn’t have a complete Bible, because the New Testament was written later.
Although they studied the Scriptures every day, these teachers of the law did not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
Although the prophets had announced how, where, and when Jesus would be born, they didn’t understand it.
They didn’t recognize who Jesus was and they did not accept Him as their Savior. Jesus is sad when people reject Him like those teachers of the law did.
Ask Jesus in your Prayer Journal to help you study the Scriptures to know Jesus better every day.
