«When He assigned to the sea it’s limit, so that the waters would not transgress His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him (Proverbs 8:29, 30).

Reflections on Jesus have been part of the life of the Christian Church. And that is because Jesus Christ is an inexhaustible meditative character. But many believers do not understand what that has to do with the likeness of Christ and human beings. Was Jesus a man or did He just look like man? Or was He just a human being without any kind of divinity? For three hundred years, the early church struggled with such controversies. To this day, books, films, documentaries, and websites about Jesus continue to appear, yet many of them lack any biblical basis.
In the Scriptures there is a text that provides a concise perspective of His person and His work: «Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men» (Philippians 2:5-7). It says here that, in relation to God, Jesus is equal. But in relation to men, He is similar to them, as Hebrews 2:17 says: «Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren.» Hence the Bible states that Jesus is the only begotten of God (John 3:16), that is, the only One of His kind because He possesses both the divine and human nature.
Today’s verse reminds us that Jesus was directly involved in the creation of this world. Everything was created by the Divine Word under a God-ordained order.
