be done through selfish ambition or conceit,
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem
others better than himself’ (Philippians 2.2,3).
AS THE POPULAR saying goes, “A woman’s worst enemy is another woman.» It seems that the coexistence between women does not enjoy much prestige, not even among ourselves. It’s difficult to understand that people who were created by God with the same nature behave with a lack of sensitivity and empathy toward their equals. Feminine nature, perhaps, could be strange and a little difficult for males to understand, but there should not be a gap among us; in any case, if any, it should be minimal, based on the individuality each person has that makes him or her unique.
Coexistence is unavoidable since it’s a human need, but there are different ways of getting along. This quality is achieved through dialogue and respect for the differences. Some reasons why it’s difficult to develop a harmonious coexistence among women are the following: stubbornness in personal ideas, refusing to accept other women’s viewpoints; envy and jealousy when the actions of others make us seem inferior; constant competition to be the best mothers, wives, girlfriends, friends. Etc.
Tolerance, flexibility, understanding, and sympathy are some of the virtues we must cultivate in order to have harmonious relations among our- selves united in the same spirit despite any disagreements. It’s abo important to accept each other’s differences, knowing when to be quiet and when to speak. By the way, jealousy and envy don’t have anything to do with the other person; they have to do with you. Try to control your feelings of inferiority before they control you.
My dear sister, let us avoid dramas because of irrelevant disagreements; let’s get rid of criticism and the double side by being sincere and honest. The church needs women who, as a single team, fight for peace and good coexistence. Let’s be ready to work for Christ, gladly taking our place and accepting with pleasure the people who are part of the task entrusted by God.
Christ is coming! It’s time to work together!
