After years back I spoke at Church in Santa Cruz, California. On Sabbath afternoon I had a few hours before my next presentation, and the family I was staying with offered me a tour of the area. Santa Cruz lies toward the north end of Monterrey Bay, so we jumped in the car and drove south along the coast. We stopped by a little beach town called Capitola.
The tide was out parts for a few hours, and we had the opportunity to explore some hard-to-reach parts of the coast that weren’t accessible at high tide. We walked along the beach and saw many rocks and marine features. In one instance we saw a huge vertebra of a whale embedded in a rock. Father down the beach we explored along the cliff face and found huge concentrations of fossils sticking out of the rock. It seemed as though the father we went, the more fascinating things we discovered. We had to be careful though and keep track of the time when the tide would come in again. If we did not return in time, the tide would come in and we would be stranded on a beach against a jagged cliff.
Not a good place to be stranded!
As we explored, we kept an eye on the clock to make sure we had time to get back off the beach before the tide came in. We timed it perfectly because just as we were reaching our exit point, the waves left us a few feet of dry land on which to escape. If we hadn’t decided to come out at a certain time, we would have a big problem.
We usually don’t realize how important “little” decisions we make every day Sometimes the “little” decisions we make are huge, potentially impacting our lives. It is important to ask God for wisdom. Fortunately, our verse today reminds us that God is generous. Ask Him for wisdom today.
