THE LONGUE
Money, power, and fame are not enough to satisfy the life of a human being. All of that has a price that few are willing to pay. Naaman was a successful and influential man in his country. Apparently, he had it all; however, he was ill. His house was surrounded by luxuries, servitude, and delicacies, but a cold, gloomy, and dull atmosphere was perceived. There was a lack of happiness, peace, and joy that existed in the heart of a young Hebrew slave, who, paradoxically, possessed all the conditions to assume an attitude of bitterness, resentment, and frustration.
The Hebrew girl had compassion on that family. So one day she dared to tell her mistress about the good news: her husband’s problem had a solution (2 Kings 5:2, 3). Naaman’s wife couldn’t believe it! From that day on she dedicated herself to persuading her husband to go to Israel to seek healing. But how could an officer of the Syrian army trust the words of a young captive? Finally, the powerful officer agreed to visit an Israelite prophet to heal him from his illness. Thus, after receiving several instructions from Elisha, Naaman went to the Jordan River to dip himself in it seven times, miraculously being healed from the illness that afflicted him. He couldn’t believe it! Now his life was a different one. He could finally enjoy his accomplishments along with his family. But none of this would have happened if that Hebrew slave had decided to remain silent and be indifferent to the suffering of her masters.
The Christian hope is more valuable than any treasure in this world. The gospel can satisfy all the needs of the human heart, regardless of the adverse conditions that we are facing. And even though we are having very difficult moments, there will always be an opportunity to transform the lives of others who have not experienced the power of the Word of God. Your age doesn’t matter. Even a child or a young person can change the life of a family that faces difficult circumstances.
Do you realize this? You have a message that can change the lives of others. Don’t be selfish. Share what you know today. Tell them there is salvation in Jesus. Don’t underestimate your words. Today your testimony can make a difference in someone’s life.
