THREE HUNDRED ISLETS

But, as it is written, “what no eye has seen, no ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who loved him”  1 CORINTHIANS 2:9, ESV

Recently I was in Nicaragua doing a speaking tour through a few of the larger cities with my family. Between two of the cities, a free day was scheduled to allow for a break.  Our hosts were gracious enough to arrange a tour to some of the interesting places nearby. First, we visited an active volcano, smelling the sulfur as we stood at the edge of the crater. Next, they took us to the colonial city of Granada at the edge of the huge Lake Nicaragua, and we boarder a little pontoon boat that slowly went out into the lake.

This was no ordinary lake; this huge lake has about three hundred tiny islets. As we cruised along we discovered something unusual about these little islands: many of them were inhabited by people and homes! Some islands were rustic, but many were very nicely developed with fancy docks and large spacious homes.

As we cruised around dozens of little islands, we found a little island that house and Adventist church! We then went to an island where an elder of that church lived. The island was small, but there was a complete house built on it with a large terraces for lounging around and even an in ground poll! To our delight and surprise, there were several mango trees on this island, and the gracious hosts invited are in and gave us mangos to eat! This was definitely one of the most unusual neighborhoods I had ever visited. Naturally, there were no cars, no sidewalks, and no streets; everyone had to have some sort of water craft. It was like a city on water.

God is planning a city in heaven, and I guarantee you it will be like nothing you could ever imagine. You will have a place built specially for you everyone will be happy there, and the best part is that Jesus will be one of your neighbors!
