«Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and on the harp I will praise You, O God, my God» (Psalm 43:4).
WE SEE in the Bible how great men of God related to Him, and one of the aspects that stands out from their way of living religion is that they built altars to the Lord to worship Him in a visible way. Abel, for example, took the firstborn of his flock to offer them to the Lord, and the Lord was pleased (see Genesis 4:4). Noah built an altar in honor of the Lord, and God received it as a soothing aroma (see Genesis 8:20, 21). Abraham also had the custom of raising altars to God in the places where He had appeared to him (see Genesis 12:7). When Jacob arrived in Canaan, he built an altar of worship to God (see Genesis 33:20). God commanded Moses to build an altar of acacia wood for the people to offer their sacrifices (see Exodus 27:1), and that is what the great leader of Israel did. The prophet Samuel, the irreproachable Job, the great Elijah—all offered true loyalty and worship to the God of heaven.
What about you? Do you have the custom of worshiping God in your home? Do you have the habit of family worship? Or has the altar of worship you used to have been destroyed? Do you perhaps need to begin again with the first stone? I suggest to you twelve stones that should not be missing in an altar that is pleasing to the Lord.
1) Recognize your condition of nakedness (see Revelation 3:17).2) Forgive; the person who gives an offering to God should be at peace with his or her neighbor (see Matthew 5:23, 24). 3) Add the stone of faith, because it is impossible to please God without it (see Hebrews 11:6).4) Be bumble; if we humble ourselves and turn away from evil, He will hear us. 5) The stone of the glorious hope of seeing Jesus face to face should not be missing (see Matthew 24:27).6) Rejoice in being His daughter. 7) Be obedient to His commandments (see Matthew 19:17).8) Be constant in your praise. 9) Be patient; this virtue comes from God.
10) Add love, because by this we will be known as His disciples (John 13:35). 11) Also add fervent prayer (see Romans 12:12).12) Do not forget the spirit of praise.
May everyone know you by your constant praise to God.
