Taking care of those three areas in life is vital. Ellen G. White says, “It is necessary to guard the thoughts; to fence the soul about with the injunctions of God’s Word; and to be very careful in every thought, word, and action not to be betrayed into sin. It is necessary to guard against the cultivation of the indulgence of the lower passions. This is not the fruit of sanctified thoughts or hearts» (Testimonies on Sexual Behavior, Adultery rind Divorce ch. 11 p. 86). ’
Don’t fall for the world’s trends. The aim of new philosophies is to claim human beings as the center of knowledge; to defend their freedom of choice, even if it hurts them. According to these philosophies, the essence of freedom and the ability of a person to chart his or her own destiny is privileged, relegating God to second place. The world tries to convince you that you don’t need God to set limits on your behavior, because you own your life and body, and you can do whatever you want with them. In response, the Lord says, “For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Living life just to have fun is many young people’s motto. Good pleasures in life are gifts from God, and He wants you to enjoy them, but based on the parameters provided by the Holy Scriptures. Sexual excess destroys physical health, deteriorates the moral conscience, drives you away from God and leaves you at the mercy of lower passions.
Many people proclaim that freedom is doing whatever you want without prejudice, because nothing is good or bad, everything depends on how you look at it. However, the Lord has given us guidelines and principles to safeguard our lives, to make us happy and to prepare us for the kingdom of heaven.
