THE FAULT LINE FLIGHT

For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.   ECCLESIASTES 4:10, NKJV

A few years ago I was involved in a filming project that required us to charter a small airplane in Bakersfield, California. We arrived early in the morning just before the sun rose in order to prepare and discuss the plan with our pilot. Next, we went over the script and discussed at which moment during the flight we’d record our lines. Finally, we were ready to fly. We went through all the necessary preflight checks, and soon we were on the runway taking off.

For this particular segment, we were going to fly to the Carrizo plain, a desert place where we could observe the San Andres Fault-a giant crack in the surface of the earth caused by the movement of earth’s tectonic plates. This one runs hundreds of miles across California. In order to get there, we had to fly for about fifteen minutes over the agricultural plains of central California. Next, we needed to cross a small mountain range. After passing the range we were now officially flying over the Carrizo Plain. A few minutes later we found ourselves looking down at an amazing sight. The fault line looks like a giant crack in the earth that runs as far into the distance as the eye can see!

Just as cracks have formed in the earth, sometimes cracks form between friends. Trust is the glue that keeps friendships strong, and if you are not careful and break the trust between you and a friend, it can be very hard to regain that trust. Since you can’t control others, your job is to simply be the best and most loyal and trustworthy friend you can be, and pray that GOD blesses your friendships. Treasure and protect your friendships; they are given by GOD. Otherwise you may find yourself without friends.
