PRINCIPLES AND VALUES
«Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed’ (Psalm 85:10).
Hilda and Simon Glasberg are siblings who were born in Chernowitz (Romania). They lived with their parents and five other siblings until 1941, when they were separated because of the Nazi invasion in the north of Bukovina. Hilda was forced to escape to Uzbekistan with Bertha, her older sister, and two nieces to Uzbekistan, while Simon and the rest of the family stayed in Romania. The war was over, and the years passed and they continued to live ordinary lives with marriages, childbirths, relocations (to different continents), and the death of the older family members. For six decades, these siblings had been separated, believing that the Holocaust had been the sad end of each of their loved ones. But the new century came with new technology that added to the interest and special intervention of Hilda’s nephews who traced Simon on the Internet. They found out he was living in Canada at that time. Mer their long-awaited reunion, in the midst of tears, kisses, and hugs, Simon said:
«This is my sister, my little sister . . . When I saw her, I could only kiss her, I couldn’t help but kiss her.»In the same way, justice and mercy, the principles that govern the kingdom of God, were needlessly rent apart. The enemy of God invaded the earth with his trickery, hoping to present a paradox in such a way that if God forgave the sinner and offered him mercy, the devil would accuse Him of ignoring justice; whereas if He applied His law, mercy would be set aside. But today’s Bible verse reveals that mercy and truth, peace and justice, all called for a meeting and got together once more.These principles had a that lengthy were «kiss.» unjustly God’s separated righteous on and the merciful cross of Calvary character held was a reflected meeting where they before the entire universe; He fulfilled the requirements of the law by offering His life to rescue the remorseful sinner.
The union of justice and mercy within the plan of salvation for mankind is a topic of deep reflection. These principles should also be seen in the life of every child of God. Sometimes, we tend to lean toward one to the detriment of the other, as if both principles were mutually exclusive. However, we can allow God to show His justice and mercy through our lives. When we unite with Him we can reflect His character and we will be transformed to His likeness.
