TEST OF LOYALTY

«Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight» (Proverbs 11:1).

INTEGRITY

Our loyalty to God is seen in the small acts of life (Luke 16:10). Many people expect to receive a high position in order to show loyalty toward God. But it doesn’t have to be that way. The way we accept and carry out the simplest tasks shows our commitment to God. Something as common as obeying your parents, doing your homework or helping with the housework shows that you are ready to receive greater responsibility.

The use we make of things that don’t belong to us is another big test of loyalty to God. When someone lends you their bike, do you return it in bad condition? I’ve known young people who don’t mind destroying or not taking care of things that belong to others. That shows great selfishness, because they don’t consider the way they damage those who trusted in them. If you’re unable to take care of something that someone lends you, how do you expect God to trust you with something bigger?

Christian service under another leader is also a test of loyalty to the heavenly Father. There are young people who aren’t willing to serve the Lord if they have to submit to authority. They claim they prefer to be independent and follow their own way, without having to give account of their actions to anyone. But that shows pride, intolerance and lack of cooperation. What would happen if you get to Heaven and you don’t agree with something? Would you form an independent group in the Heavenly mansions? It’s better to learn to get along with those who think differently, to respect other people’s ideas and live alongside all kinds of people. That’s Christian maturity.

The use of money is a test of loyalty to the Lord that reveals what we have within. To a Christian, money is a means to worship God, and not an end in itself. Whether you have a lot or a little, use it to honor the heavenly Father and not to waste it needlessly.

In the end, we’ll all be weighed in the Heavenly scale (Daniel 5:27). Your life doesn’t need to be like a false weight, full of deceit and unfaithfulness. Instead, God can make you one of His genuine servants.
