EVERYDAY OBJECTS
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (Isaiah 26:3, emphasis added).
It was midnight and we had already locked everything up and turned the lights off, but while peacefully reading, I heard a car stop in front of our house and hurried steps approach my window. I heard something scraping against my shutters. Suddenly, the car door slammed loudly and it started off again. I thought it was all very strange, so I went out to see what was going on, and after seeing our empty porch, the first thing I told my brother was, «They stole our pansies.» The phrase sounded strange to me. I never imagined I would be saying something like that, but I was referring to a flower pot with those flowers.
I lay down and started thinking about the phrase and realized that many times, also in a quick way, our enemy steals our thoughts. In fact, at that moment, instead of being grateful because they hadn’t stolen anything else or done anything worse to us, I thought about the needless wickedness of those people.
It’s very hard to understand how important thoughts are in our lives and how many things they influence. And we don’t realize that thoughts lead to actions, and actions to habits and habits to our lifestyle.
Those who dominate or control our thoughts will certainly play an important role in our lives. The unfolding of many good or bad things depends on it.
In Mind, Character and Personality, volume 1, we read, «The reason why Satan has so great control over the minds and hearts of men is that they have not made the Word of God the man of their counsel, and all their ways have not been tried by the true test. The Bible will show us what course we must pursue to become heirs of glory» (ch. 11, p. 89).
In the Bible Concordance there are over a hundred references to thoughts. Look some of them up today and pray specifically for the enemy not to take control of your thoughts, or rob the attention that should be given to Jesus.
