SIN’S BREEDING GROUND

“I sought the lord, and He heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears”

(Psalm 34:4)

IN THE FIELD of Microbiology, a culture broth is an optimal liquid used for the reproduction of all sorts of bacteria. I would like to compare sin with a breeding ground, so this morning we can have a clearer understanding of how it works in our lives.

To begin with, sin is generated in our minds, where emotional bacteria proliferate through uncontrolled thoughts.

Discouragement is the most  lethal bacteria; it makes us lose our spiritual energy; then, we begin to believe Satan that we are hopelessly  lost, and we drift away from God because we are embarrassed or don’t believe in our restoration. Be careful!

Don’t believe everything you think,or give why in your mind to things that you would like to do but are clearly against the will of God, as expressed in His Word.

If you keep these things in mind, it will no longer be the ideal breeding ground for the bacteria of sin to multiply.

Exhaustion is similar to discouragement and it seems to have taken over our world, since it’s a very common condition.

Tired of trying, to be better and to change our sinful habits, we end up seeking artificial relief.

Promiscuity and drug use end up seeming to us as an option to temporary solutions. Those who promote them and use them, don’t realize that this exhaustion will only become strength in Jesus’s arms and not through sensory pleasures.

Turning to Jesus when you are tired and defeated is no reason to be ashamed. On the contrary, turning back to Jesus is a clear sign of strength, courage and faith. And if you remember the parable of the prodigal son, the heavenly Father is by the wayside, always expecting to see you coming home from a distance so He can run out to meet you.

Today is a perfect day to make the right decisions.

Discover your weaknesses, listen to your intuition and confront it with reasoning; it’s time to lay down your problems at the foot of the cross.

“[God] will take the load from our weary shoulders.

He will give us rest. The burden of care and sorrow also He will bear.

He invites us to cast all our care upon Him; for He carries us upon His heart” (The Desire of  Ages, ch. 34, p. 329).
