«He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?» (Romans 8:32).
A friend of mine recently received a BMW as a gift. Really! A couple of days ago, he came to visit me and showed it to me: o kilometers, latest model. That day, my friend’s cheeks were cramped from smiling so much. When he opened the trunk, I noticed that the company that had given him the car had also included a roof rack. It had been put in the trunk, ready for when he wanted to install it. «Wow! They even included the rack,» I said to my friend in surprise. «Yes, they thought of everything!» he replied. Although at that moment, I was surprised, if a company is willing to cover the cost of a luxury BMW sports car, it’s not really going to consider the cost of a rack.
We often look at God with suspicion and mistrust. We think He spares resources and blessings, that He is a little stingy. We believe that God will treat us as people treated the woodsmen of St. John. Remember the children’s song? The poor woodsmen of St. John «ask for bread, they do not give any; they ask for cheese, they give them a bone, and they cut their throats.»- I’m not sure how the enemy got us to swallow this lie. Jesus made it clear that God is extraordinarily generous: «What man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!» (Matthew God doesn’t spare expenses. Don’t get tired of asking! Don’t give up!
The apostle Paul wrote, «He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?» (Romans 8:32). In other words, if God the Father gave us the latest model of a BMW sports car, do you really think He wouldn’t give us a roof rack? If we trust God to save us, will we also not trust Him to bless us with what we need each day?
Dear Lord, You are generous and You would never deny me anything good. That is why I can confidently put my life and dreams in Your hands. I can rest calmly because You always give us more, not less.
