Daily Devotions for Juniors 2020

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

Q: How do you have a close relationship with Jesus?

A: Becoming friends with Jesus means spending time with Him. There are lots of ways to do this, but two ways we’d suggest are (1) talk to Him every day (pray), and (2) read His «love letter» to us (the Bible) daily.

Try this: Start a devotional journal in which you keep track of your talks with Jesus. Divide a notebook into three sections and label them as follows: «Prayer Requests,» «Meaningful Texts,» and «Praise and Thanks.» In the Prayer Requests section jot down specific spiritual needs you are praying for, as well as names of people you want to remember in prayer. Make a note of how and when you believe God answered your prayer.

In the Meaningful Texts section write out Bible texts and promises that seem to have a special message for you. Then make a note next to the text about what you think God is trying to say to you personally through the passage.

And in the Praise and Thanks section list things that you are especially thankful for: how God has blessed you lately, a prayer He has answered in a surprising way, et cetera.

As you nurture your relationship daily with the Lord through prayer and Bible study, you’ll find yourself wanting to spend more and more time with Him. And as you do, Jesus will become your special Friend.
