Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him-his name is the Lord. PSALMS 68:4, NIV
While studying in France, I joined the school choir. In April of that school year we took a ten-day choir tour of Italy. One of the places on our tour was the Adventist school in Florence. The Adventist school is located on a hill overlooking the city. The road up the hill was quite steeps. Along with the choir, our bus carried all our luggage and sleeping bags for the trip, plus it towed a small trailer containing all the chairs, stands, and instruments used in our concerts.
As we slowly chugged up the hill the buss suddenly stopped-it simply did not have the strength to make up the hill. The guys got out and tried to push the bus. I’ve pushed cars out of snow before, but this was the first time I tried pushing a bus-up a hill no less! Somehow, we made it up the hill, only sustaining one injury along the way.
One of the guys pinched his hand near the hitch that towed the trailer. After we pushed the bus and trailer up the steep part of the road, the bus was able to make it up the last portion all by itself. Still, when we made it to the top, it turned out that my friend’s hand had a big cut, so I volunteered to go with him to the hospital to get his cut checked out. The nurse patched him up and we made it back to the concert just in time.
Music is probably a big part of our life, and your musical choices can have a big influence on you. Usually they lead you toward God or away from God.
What kind of music do you listen? I encourage you to pick music that honors God.
