«And said: ‘If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you’ «(Exodus 15:26).
Psychoneuroendocrine Immunology is an interdisciplinary research area which studies the multidirectional influence that the different systems such as the brain, the behavior, the nervous, endocrine and immune systems have on people’s health. Every day, an increasing number of researchers focus on this fascinating discipline which can explain health maintenance and disease prevention.
For the whole month, we have reviewed the main laws that govern the human body. In order to be healthy, it is necessary to follow both the principles that rule our physical health and those that rule our mental and spiritual health. In other words, it is not enough to follow the principles that rule only one of these dimensions and neglect those that rule the others because they all mutually affect each other. Just as the state of physical health of the body affects the mood and the thoughts, positive molecular changes take place in our body when we love, give thanks, forgive, communicate with God and trust His promises. In the same way, the transgression of the physical, mental or moral law produces a myriad of negative effects that affect the entire organism. Even if it is not always possible to identify the origin of the diseases, we can do much to prevent them. The human machinery has been designed with the noble purpose of worshiping God and serving humanity.
By following the health principles God left in His Word, we can be set free from many diseases. It depends on whether we choose to follow these principles or not. Before proclaiming the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, the Lord said, «If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you» (Exod. 15:26).
It is encouraging to know heaven’s intentions for our health through the principles revealed in His Word. With God’s help and with perseverance and dedication, we could follow the principles faithfully to strengthen our mind, spirit and body. He wants to see us entirely healthy and completely happy. How much do we value our health?
