Q: How many people will be in heaven?
A: Have you ever tried to count snowflakes? One winter day I looked out my window as a few flakes drifted past.
Then more fluttered by. Absentmindedly I began to count, just for fun. I think I gave up around 150. By then they were beginning to fall too fast. If I’d kept at it, I’d have gone crazy. We had a blizzard that day.
I wonder if John had the same problem when he was writing chapter 7 of Revelation. God was showing him what would happen at the end of time. Here’s how he described one of the scenes he was shown. «After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb» (verse 9). That’s a lot of people.
But even with such a multitude singing praises, God will know it if you’re not there. Or if I’m not there. He’ll be searching the throng for your face and mine. And when He sees us, He’ll smile.
John also wrote: «And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. «He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more deal » or mourning or crying or pain’ » (Revelation 21:3, 4), Let’s look forward to heaven together.
