The ways in which we satisfy those needs are unique for each person. Some ty to please by satisfying other people’s needs at the same time they appease or suppress their own needs. Others give up their values to be in the same «wavelength» as those they want to please; and others surrender their will to be controlled by someone so they can feel accepted by that person. Let us remember that our wishes, our desires and our will should only be subject to God’s will and His plans for us.
She was a wonderful, talented and smart girl: When she thought she had found true love, she married a young man who, little by little, took command and control of her, to the point that she was constantly fearful with no strength to escape from that situation. By trying at first to please him, this young lady’s life went completely out of control.
Dear friend, it’s important to remember where we come from. We are daughters of God, gifted with individuality, dignity, creativity and freedom of choice; we were created special and unique. Nobody has the right to snatch this heavenly inheritance from us. No matter how big our internal wish to please, to be accepted and to feel we fit in and belong, this should never happen at the expense of relinquishing who we are: daughters of God by creation and redemption.
That means you are free to make decisions. You have a God given right to demand respect. You also have uniqueness that has been given to you to do things your way, of course, all this in accordance with God, who is your Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer.
Pleasing God should be a constant search in the life of a woman who loves the Lord, for when we have that certainty we can be productive and assertive without trampling on other people’s feelings, considering them as our equals and as children of God. In addition, we enter into a relationship of harmony with ourselves, accepting our virtues and weaknesses.
