«PLANS TO PROSPER YOU»

» ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

In 2020, Sergeant Philip Gray trended on social media. Why? Because he wrote 270 messages to Rosie, his seven-year-old daughter. When they told him that his unit would be deployed to Afghanistan, Philip sat down and wrote a message for each day he would be away from home, and asked his wife to put one in Rosie’s lunch box every day. In each note, Philip tried to give a message that would contribute to his little one’s well-being while he was away.

Philip Gray was a father who knew perfectly well about the emotional needs of his daughter Rosie, and therefore left her a specific message for each day. Philip, a human parent, is a faint example of what our heavenly Father has done for each one of us.

In the Scriptures there are a multitude of promises, of special messages from our Creator to bring us relief and comfort in each moment of our lives. Ellen G. White says that «God has placed the promises in His Word to lead us to have faith in Him.» But that faith will be a concrete reality when we make time in our schedules to read the messages He has left us in the Bible.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God assured those who were captive in Babylon the following: » ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’ » (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV). People in those days might have believed that God had forgotten about His people, that the cruel distance that separated them from the Lord was tangible proof that God no longer remembered them. However, God told them, «I know the plans I have for you!’ The text literally says: «I know the thoughts I have for you.»
The Lord thinks about us! And He wants us to be totally convinced every day that there’s a master plan for each phase of our lives, and that plan seeks the prosperity of each of His children, including us.

For the sake of our prosperity, let us strive to read the Bible every day.
