OBSTACLES

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister. ROMANS 14:13

During a trip to Oregon recently, I decided to look for a nice trail to hike. After a little searching, I found the perfect trail to hike at the base of Mount Hood. I got all the necessary gear together and drove to the trailhead. Soon, I was happily on my way up the trail. This wasn’t a sidewalk, and I had to keep my eye on the trail so as not to trip over roots or rocks. After a short while, the trail joined up with a brisk river. I had seen a trail map and knew that later on, the trail the crossed over the to the other side of the river.

The father up I got, the rougher and faster the river got, and more rocks blocked the path. I started wondering if I crossing over to the other side of the river would be dangerous. Finally, I came around a corner and saw the crossing-a huge log that spanned the river. It was so big that the park service had actually built rustic rails on either side of the log so you could hold as you walked across. Soon the hiking started to get very steep, and it seemed as though I were walking in a canyon with the river rushing by below me. Finally, I came around the corner and saw it, a beautiful waterfall thundering over a 150-foot-tall lava cliff! The going was still difficult as I scampered over a huge boulder and climbed up the side of the waterfall to an overhang behind the sheet of falling water.

There were plenty of obstacles during my hike that could have tripped me up. For us as Christians, the BIBLE tells us something that should be obvious. We are not to try to trip up our brothers and sisters by judging them during their Christian hike. When we quickly judged each other, we tent to get it wrong.

God knows the heart, so let Him judge.

Our job is to Love.
