“They will spring up among the grass
like willows by the watercourses”
(Isaiah 44:4).
IN THE STATE Of Oaxaca, Mexico, there’s a millenary tree called the Tule Tree. Some claim its trunk is the widest in the world, with a diameter of over 45 feet and a circumference of approximately 138 feet.
Thirty people holding hands are needed to go all around the tree. It’s something unique that nature offers those who visit the place. However, before becoming what it is today, it was a fragile little tree, perhaps tossed about by the wind, maybe sometimes without water and other times hooded by storms. In the midst of all those hardships, it grew up tall with a big and strong think that nothing has been able to break it down.
Today it stands as an example of strength.
God expects us, his daughter, to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (Ps. 1:3). Somewhat like the Tule Tree. Each one of us has been planted in our own land and that’s where we are to take root so we can grow, become strong little by little, despite of hardships, and then bear fruit.
How did the Tule Tree reach its current height? By always growing toward heaven, where light is; and by casting its roots deeper and deeper into the earth. These are two things that we can also do: into the earth.
- set our eyes on heaven, where our Light comes from, so that we can grow spiritually (toward new heights) and
- extend our roots deeper and deeper into the knowledge of God’s Word and our relationship with Him. Consequently, nothing will be able to bend us.
Every woman of God is like a tree. She has characteristics which make her unique: her fruits feed the hungry, and the needy take refuge in her shade. The Tule Tree’s shade can cover over five-hundred people. How many people and refuge, care and love under your “tree»? It’s your privilege to live your life in such a way that you will be a lush, robust and inviting tree to those who watch you.
One day, very soon, the heavenly Gardener will come, and with the same care that He planted us on earth, he will transplant us in the heavens garde.
