LIKE THE STARS

«He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning and makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth; The Lord is His name» (Amos 5:8).

NO ONE CAN IGNORE the elegance with which the firmament is clad. As we watch that vast mass of gases with elevated temperatures, our senses are left perplexed. The twinkling light we see in the sky when we lift our gaze at night announces the power of God. The stars that we can see from earth are barely a sample of all those that actually exist but remain hidden from our eyes. Astronomers have calculated that the number of stars in the Milky Way—to which the Sun and our planet Earth belong—are in the hundreds of billions. Job rightly said, «He commands the sun, and it does not rise; He seals off the stars; He alone spreads out the heavens, and treads on the waves of the sea; He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers of the south; He does great things past finding out, yes, wonders without number» (9:7—10). problem of human beings is that we do not know what our standing is in relation to God; we do not know how to give Him the place that is His and have a clear understanding of what we (creatures) really are in relation to Him.

Every constellation has such greatness that Job wondered: «Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the belt of Orion?» (Job 38:31).» He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name» (Psalm 147:4). ‘There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory’ (1 Corinthians 15:41). Greater still is the brightness of our God.

Would you like your life today to have the brightness of a star? Then you need to find the One who made the Pleiades and Orion, because those who seek the face of the Lord, said the psalmist David, will never be disappointed and their face will be radiant (see Psalm 34:5). The Architect of the firmament, the One who transforms the night into morning, the Creator of the heavenly army (see Deuteronomy 4:19), who with His power pearl« off the stars (see Job 9:7), can fill your life with light if you ask Him today.
