LIFE IS LIKE A JOURNEY

“But our citizenship is in heaven. From which we also eagerly await for the Savior , the Lord Jesus Christ”

(Philippians 3:20).

I REMEMBER taking a trip one time that lasted several hours by train, from my house to my aunt and uncle’s. our second class seats placed us in the back of one of the last wagons. Unlike first class tickets, our seats were not cushioned; they were wooden and after a while it was uncomfortable to keep on sitting on such a hard surface.  Midway there we had to open the windows because second class seats didn’t have air conditioning. Then I started counting the trees and hills we were leaving behind. At lunch time, my mom spread out a tablecloth on one of the seats and serve our family meal. It was really exciting!

When the trip was over, I arrived with a dirty face from the black smoke emitted by the engines, my hair was tousled by the constant air coming in through the opened windows, but I had hundreds of marvelous imagines in my memory. I still remember it as the best trip on my life. I can’t even imagine the comfort of the first-class wagons, because the experience seemed to me just perfect.

Some people compare life to a journey. Today, l want to make use of this comparison so together we can reflect on it. Of coupe, a Christian woman’s journey in lite is enjoyed even when there is «smoke» and «wind,» because we know we are headed to eternity, to the happiest meeting ever. As we move forward, we leave behind past experiences and build new ones. The environment, circumstances and people also change. Everything offers a scenery worth of living intensely. In the Bible, we read that we are pilgrims on this planet, but our citizenship is in heaven. Then, why should we be suffocated by trials and problems along the way? Are you hurt by some people’s harshness? Do the discomforts of your present life hurt you? Remember that everything passes and it all edifies you if you ate up to the task of renewal of your understanding.

God has invited you to His home, which will be yours and mine very soon. Enjoy the journey through life even if you suffer discomforts.

Always keep in mind that you will soon see God and all the suffering will have ended.

While we travel, let’s keep our hope and perseverance alive.
