LET US DRAW NEAR

«Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water» (Hebrews 10:22)

MAN BUILDS walls and chasms, God builds bridges and roads. Christ is the Way. Drawing near is our response to God’s initiative. No one who draws near receives crumbs or leftovers. It is not coins that await us but the abundant riches of God’s grace.

Drawing near with confidence is not based on our merits, resources, or influences. Our certainty is anchored in God. It is not because of who I am, but because of who He is. «We may be assured that we need not go into the heavens to bring Jesus down to us, neither into the deep to bring Him up; for He is at our right hand, and His eye is ever upon us . . . this is the only way in which we may have confidence toward God» (Sons and Daughters of God, p. 27).

We draw near for our own protection and salvation. God does not send evil, but God releases the winds and the enemy does his work God sometimes allows adverse situations, which are His call to a more spiritual, faithful, and missionary life, God gives us all an opportunity, I cannot say it is the last one, but it might well be the last one for me.

God gives opportunities to everyone, because He does not want any of us to perish. Many times, suffering is the only thing that brings us closer to God, shakes us, purifies us, and transforms us.

«Drawing near» means experiencing an intimate communion, with a sincere, genuine heart; without pretense, without hypocrisy or reservations of any kind. This approach is with fill certainty and assurance, with a firm faith in the power of Christ that cleanses the soul of sin and imparts grace to overcome sin in our lives.

Hearts are purified, sprinkled by the blood of Christ and bodies are cleansed. Water is of paramount importance and value for cleanliness in general and is an adequate symbol of the elimination of the sins of life. External evidence bears witness to the internal transformation that has taken place. Baptism proclaims before everyone a decision to partake of the privileges that follow conversion and to accept its responsibilities.

On the cross, Christ saved us from the condemnation of sin. In the sanctuary, He saves us from the guilt of sin.

And at His coming, He will save us from the presence of sin. Trust and draw near.
