Q: How are teens supposed to tell others about Jesus without being laughed at?
A: We are so excited that you want to witness for Jesus! Here’s a little story that we hope will help.
Jorge was a young Christian who had never witnessed for his faith. One day at church the minister preached a sermon about sharing Jesus, quoting Romans 1:16.
The next Monday at school Jorge made up his mind to tell others about how to get to heaven. He prayed, «Lord, the first person who comes into the classroom, I’ll tell him or her about You.» Just then David ambled in. Oh, no! he thought. Not David! Please, Lord!
Jorge froze. For the next 10 minutes he and David sat in silence. Then the bell rang and class began. Jorge felt horrible. He had let God down.
So he prayed. Then God gave him an idea. He decided to find his classmate and just talk to him. He said, «David, I’ve known you a long time, but I’ve never told you about the most important thing in my life. Can I share it with you?» There it was. A plain and simple witness. Do you think David laughed? No way. Instead, David said, «Jorge, I’ve always known there was something different about you. I’ve just been waiting for you to tell me.
Get the picture? Ask God to show you opportunities to share what Jesus has done for you.
Become friends with a wide range of individuals, and you’ll certainly have opportunities to share Christ. When others know that you truly care about them, they won’t laugh. They’ll listen. Art and Pat Humphrey
