JESUS’S LOVE IS SUFFICIENT

«Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, ‘It has come at last salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them before our God day and night and they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony’ » (Revelation 12:10, 11, NLT).

You did it again. That thing you promised you would «never» do again. A millisecond after yelling at your kids, overeating, or criticizing someone, guilt floods in. It’s a toxic tide that bears tons of trash from the past and hurls it on the sand of your soul: dirty clothes, plastic, and dead animals cover you in a flash and block your relationship with God.

Guilt tells me I can’t pray now; that I should wait until I’m clean. Guilt tells me I am a fraud, that I can’t talk about Jesus because I’m so sinful. Guilt makes me ask for forgiveness a thousand times and makes me feel worse every time. Guilt comes from our enemy, the accuser. But while guilt blocks the way, repentance leads us to Christ.

Today I felt the tide rise all the way to my nose. Then the Holy Spirit whispered in my ear: «Jesus’s love is sufficient.» As I repeated that phrase over and over again in my heart. I saw the tide abate then disappear. Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Judas Iscariot had accepted Jesus’s forgiveness? Perhaps, like Peter, he would have become a pillar of the early Christian church. But what Judas felt was guilt. not repentance. We know that because of its results: repentance draws us closer to God; guilt does not. Since he could not solve the situation himself. he felt humiliated. Guilt. like a boa constrictor, curled around his neck and whispered: «There’s no turning back. All is lost.» So Judas hung himself.

We depend on Jesus for everything. When the tide rises, let’s humbly say, «Jesus’s love is sufficient.» And let’s believe it.

Dear Jesus, thank You because Your love is always sufficient.
Nothing can separate me from Your love: not death or life,
not angels or demons, not today’s fears or tomorrow’s worries.
Not even the very powers of hell can separate us.
Thank You because I no longer have to hear the voices that accuse me.
You don’t condemn me, but You give me true repentance. Your love is sufficient.
