Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. ECCLESIASTES 4:9, 1 0, NKJV
During the year I lived in France, one of the easiest ways of getting around was by hitchhiking. I know that may sound kind of creepy and dangerous, but at that time and place, hitchhiking was as common as taking a bus, and probably more reliable. One day I was trying to catch a ride from the outskirts of Geneva, Switzerland to the city center. I was picked up fairly quickly by an older woman who was also on her way to Geneva’s city center—usually a ten- to fifteen-minute ride. She asked where I was from; I told her I was an American student studying language nearby in France. Somehow the topic came up that I also spoke Spanish. Next, she asked how it was that I also spoke Spanish since I lived in the United States. I told her that my parents were of Hispanic descent.
She asked which country they were from, and I told her that my mother was Cuban and my father was Chilean. Next, she told me that her son had lived in Chile for a short time and that he liked it I here. I asked her which city he had lived in and she replied, Chillan. I was quite shocked, because that was the same city my father had grown up in. Over the next few minutes we discovered that her son had really enjoyed his experience in Chile because this one family had gone out of their way to make his time there pleasant. When she said the names of the people, I was completely shocked—they were my aunt and uncle!
You are going to meet lots of people in your life and make lots of friends.
Friendships are a blessing from GOD, but don’t take them for granted. Friend-ships are a two- way street. You must be loyal and never break trust in order to expect the same thing in return.
